Served as Honorary Captain for Arizona State University Sun Devils Ice Hockey Club.

Participated in Full Tilt Bad Beat On Cancer Fundraiser Poker Tournament. Served on the Phoenix Coyotes Goals For Kids Foundation Board of Directors.

Held annual Jeremy Roenick Celebrity Golf Classic each summer in Phoenix to raise funds for Phoenix Coyotes Goals For Kids. Acted as a spokesperson for Goals For Kids for Phoenix Coyotes. Served as the honorary captain for the Street Coyotes hockey program.

Participates in charity golf tournaments across the United States and Canada (i.e., Mark Recchi Charity Tournament, John LeClair golf tournament, Chris Chelios Charity tournament, Special Kids Network golf tournament and auction, and more).

In Chicago, J.R. and Chris Chelios initiated the J.R. & Cheli's Children Foundation which helped underprivileged children Received the Chicago Sports Profiles 1993-94 "Humanitarian of the Year Award".

Involved in the Little City Foundation for disadvantaged youth.
